Julio es como un banco de viento para muchos windsurfistas. Después de las experiencias con los Lehman Brothers también se puede esperar un bajón en algún que otro momento. La verdad es que hay que tener muy mala suerte si no se tiene al menos seis de siete días de potencia en la vela. Las de cinco metros suelen ser la más solicitadas aunque de vez en cuando entran condiciones como para cuatro metros y menos. Éstos son los días que se quedan grabados en la memoria como un cuento de hadas. Y encima hace suficiente calor como para navegar en neopreno corto! Además el sol brilla día sí, dia también. Vamos, de ensueño.
Que esos sueños se pueden quedar en nada se demostró en los años 1989, 2002 y 2013.

July is like a bank of wind for windsurfers. Since the Lehman Brothers scandal, a slip every once in a while allows this metaphor to still apply. You really need bad luck to not have at least six out of seven days with power in the sail. Our five meter sails are definitely the most popular here with the four meters and smaller being asked for every so often. Those times are etched into our memories like a fairy tale. On top of this it is always warm enough for the shorty and the sun is shining every day. Just like a dream.
Sure we have to wake up from these dreams from time to time like in 1989, 2002 and 2013.

Der Juli ist für Surfer in El Médano wie eine Bank. Nach den Erfahrungen mit Lehman passt auch ein Ausrutscher in dieses Klischee. Man muss schon ganz böses Pech haben, wenn nicht wenigstens sechs von sieben Tagen Druck im Segel ist. Die Fünfer sind dann die meistgebrauchten, aber hin und wieder ballert es auch mal für Vierer und kleinere. Solche Zeiten bleiben wie ein Märchen in Erinnerung. Denn obendrein ist es warm genug für einen Shorty. Und die Sonne scheint tagein, tagaus. Halt wie ein Surfertraum...
Dass solche Träume auch mal zu Schaum werden können, zeigt sich 1989, 2002 und '13.
